As the school year winds down, Wisconsin JEA is pleased to announce the winners of our combined March and April mini contest.
Our judges reviewed photos, yearbook spreads, print pieces and video packages from across the state, looking for work that revealed the hidden heart of school communities and highlighted the activities and causes students care about most.
The winners selected as exemplars are:
Visual Design: Addison Schneider and Anakin Harris (Indian Trail High School and Academy) for her yearbook spread, “Heart is Here.” Judges were moved by the layout’s ability to capture the often unseen pulse of the school culture.
Video Production: Caleb Spangler and Miles Nibbelink (Madison East High School) for their video package, “Student Artists.” This feature provided a beautiful “behind the scenes” look at the creative process, blending technical precision with compelling human interest.
“Seeing students pull back the curtain on the creative and emotional life of their schools is exactly why we started these contests,” said Julie Tiedens, WisJEA vice president. “Addison, Caleb, and Miles have shown us that Wisconsin student journalism is in very capable hands.”
Congratulations to our winners and the dedicated advisers who support them!
