WisJEA seeking remote, paid intern

The Wisconsin Journalism Education Association is seeking a remote, paid intern for the 2021-2022 school year. The position will pay $10 an hour for 5-10 hours per week each semester, or up to $500 each semester.

Preference will be given to students who agree to work the entire school year. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply, especially those students who identify with communities underrepresented in journalism.

Internship duties include the following:

  • Keep organization website updated
  • Complete social media SWOT analysis and audit and come up with suggestions and play how to grow and track social media presence
  • Promote organization, webinars, meetings, scholarships, etc. on social media and online
  • Grow WisJEA contact list of journalism advisers from high schools across the state by reaching out to schools and managing a database
  • Attend NEWPSA and KEMPA annual conferences to promote and grow organization and network
  • Create flyers, brochures, etc. as needed
  • Other occasional duties as determined by WisJEA supervisor
