The Wisconsin Journalism Association would like to encourage college and high school students and media advisers to utilize The Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s media resources. These programs aim to assist in training these students for their prospective media related careers.
Online Media Campus
Students and advisors are encouraged to take advantage of Online Media Campus in real time or by accessing the archives of past programming. The WNA only requires that any interested advisers or students notify the WNA of their interest in being a member, and provide contact information. They will in-turn contact any interested member and get any additional information that they need for their database.
Online Media Campus offers a NewStart webinar program called “Training the Next Generation of Media Entrepreneurs.” Registration for this program is free of cost! The NewStart program at West Virginia University trains the upcoming generation of media entrepreneurs. This training provides students with the knowledge and understanding of the industry to purchase existing community newspapers or other media outlets to then transform their business models and ensure long-term viability – specifically to decrease the spread of news deserts in the country.
This program is completely remote, making it accessible to anyone in any location. This course is a one year accelerated master’s degree program in Media Solutions and Innovation.
