The Wisconsin Newspaper Association has announced that the 2024 High School Better Newspaper Contest will open in December. This is a chance for high school students to submit their best work of 2024 and compete against their peers for honors in all areas of journalism across the state.
BNC High School categories include: General Excellence, Column Writing, Editorial Writing, Feature Story, General Reporting, In-Depth Reporting, Infographic/Illustration, News/Feature Photography, Public Affairs Reporting, Sports Photography and Sports Reporting.
While the contest is not open yet – NOW is the time to plan ahead and start collecting your submissions. Entries will be accepted December 9, 2024 – January 13, 2025.
There will be a $7.50 fee for each entry. Content published between January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024, is eligible for this contest. The contest site information along with the rules and regulations will be sent out in coming weeks
The presentation of awards will be held during the BNC Banquet at the annual convention of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association on March 7, 2025, at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club.
It is important to note that this is not just an awards show – it is a full convention of industry related educational sessions, networking opportunities and keynote speakers. Students receive a discounted price to attend.
